“I didn’t want it to come off like I was leaving angrily.”

After 10 hilarious years, Aidy Bryant is saying goodbye to Saturday Night Live, and now, she’s letting fans know why it was time for her to walk away.

During a recent interview with Variety, Aidy revealed how the pandemic played a role in her decision to leave the show.

“If it weren’t for COVID, I probably would have left a few years earlier,” Aidy told Variety. “But it was such a huge change.”

“When COVID hit, it was so jarring that we were all like, ‘I’m definitely going to come back next year.’ And then I had to shoot Shrill for half of last season, and so I missed a lot.”

That feeling of missing out led Aidy to return to SNL for an extra year. She admitted that she wanted “one last normal year” on the show.

“This year wasn’t the normal year that I hoped for, but it was closer to that,” Aidy said. “It was like, ‘OK, it’s really time now.’ And 10 felt like a nice, solid round number.”

She recalled being scared to tell longtime SNL showrunner Lorne Michaels, but he ended up being very understanding.

“Maybe in March or April, I went to his office and was like, ‘I gotta talk to you.’ I was scared because I feel close to him and so grateful to him.”

“I didn’t want it to come off like I was leaving angrily. I am leaving with so much love. He was like, ‘I understand, and it makes sense for you.’”

Aidy bid farewell in late May by doing one final Weekend Update segment with Bowen Yang as the Trend Forecasters.

But Aidy isn’t the only cast member who recently announced their SNL departure. Kate McKinnon, Kyle Mooney, and Pete Davidson are also leaving.

How Mariah Carey Celebrates Christmas With Her Twins Moroccan & Monroe

Published

All Mariah Carey wants for Christmas is to spend it with family.

The singer recently revealed how she and her twins Moroccan and Monroe—whom you may have spotted sweetly stealing the spotlight during her Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade performance—celebrate the holiday.

“I create my own Christmas moment,” Carey told W Magazine for its latest cover story. “I mean, Santa Claus visits us. He comes with his reindeer. I am not exaggerating—this is the truth. By the way, before my kids were born, I did all the same types of things. That’s just how it is with me and Santa and the reindeer.”

While a visit from Santa is always exciting, Moroccan and Monroe do live with the Queen of Christmas (you know you’ll be rocking out to “All I Want for Christmas Is You” all season long). So how do the 11-year-olds feel about having such an iconic mom?

“Darling, look, I know a lot of the time people are like, ‘Oh, yay! Look at her! She’s, like, so festive and such a Christmas girl,’ or whatever,” Carey continued. “But, really, Christmas makes me happy. People think I had this princess-style life or whatever, a kind of fairy-tale existence where I just emerged, like, ‘Here I am!’ And that is not what it is.”

Porsha Williams got her happy ending.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum, 41, has married entrepreneur Simon Guobadia, 57, her rep confirms to E! News.

According to People, the couple wed in a Nigerian native law and custom ceremony at the Four Seasons Hotel Atlanta on Nov. 25. The outlet reported that Simon, who is from Benin City in the Edo State of Nigeria, and Porsha had traditional Benin singers and dancers perform at the ceremony.

For the reception, Porsha told the publication she wanted guests to “feel like they have taken a flight and landed in Benin.”

“The whole room should be transformed with beautiful colors of browns and rose golds and tans and creams. It should be really, really beautiful and give you that authentic African feel,” she shared, later adding, “The other thing I wanted was trees in the room. I want it to feel like an inside/outside space, but luxurious.”

People noted the Bravolebrity wore three outfits on her big day—first donning a red gown by Lakimmy along with a headpiece featuring Benin coral beads and then switching into a blue gown and a gold dress, both by Tabik.
